Dating from the late nineteenth/early twentieth-century, this beautiful, large Conscience jug has six handles - three running vertically on each side. The handles were used to help carry - rope was threaded through the loop handles. Conscience jugs were used by the church to collect olive oil from farmers to offer to the poor - hence the name 'Conscience'. It is in very good condition.
