An antique French stoneware confit crock, probably dating from the early 20th century, with a warm cream glaze and a generously rounded body. Its broad, looped side handles, with their softly modeled shape, give the otherwise simple form a distinctive rhythm. The glaze shows natural irregularities in tone and surface, including a darker oval mark on the body and scattered firing variations that lend the piece warmth and individuality while emphasizing its hand-crafted, utilitarian origins.

Confit crocks were made for preserving meats in fat and were valued for their durability and practical proportions. Today, this example stands out for the character of its surface and the sculptural quality of its handles. Left empty, used for kitchen utensils, or planted with culinary herbs, it brings warmth, texture, and an authentic French country character to an interior.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
