A rare French gilt tôle and crystal six-candle chandelier, dating from the late 18th century, The finely riveted gilt tôle frame is formed as scrolling foliate branches with tulip-form candle cups, suspended from three chains beneath an elegant foliate canopy. Cut crystal pendants in clear, smoky, and pale amethyst tones catch the light beautifully, while delicate rosettes add further sparkle throughout the composition. A discreet 20th-century electrification has been added to the upper section of the chandelier, where a single exposed bulb provides gentle ambient light while preserving the original candle-lit design.

Presented in good timeworn condition, with a beautifully aged gilt surface showing gentle wear and oxidation, and a slightly loose central stem that sits just slightly out of alignment. The pierced petals beneath each candle cup originally supported delicate crystal pendants, lost over time. A few of the surviving larger pendants bear minor nicks. These gentle signs of age enhance the chandelier's authentic period character and beautifully weathered appeal.
