A lovely, bell-shaped garden cloche dating from the late-nineteenth century, France. Made of thick glass with a green tint, it was designed to act as a small greenhouse for lettuces and melons in the potager. Glass domes such as this can be transformed into spectacular light fittings when suspended upside down.
