A hand-painted double-bowl wall-mounted cutlery drainer in glazed terracotta from the late 19th to early 20th century, likely from the Drôme or Savoie region. Hand-formed with two joined perforated cups set against a circular backplate, it features two small holes for wall mounting. The surface is decorated with dark brown slip in a crosshatched lattice pattern over a soft cream glaze, enriched with a scalloped frieze on the backplate that adds gentle rhythm, and green pooling at the edges for depth and color. Minor rim chips and light glaze wear enhance its antique charm, while a small stable hairline on one bowl does not compromise the structure.
Today it brings authentic farmhouse character to a kitchen, pantry, or mudroom. Hang it above a sink or on a tiled backsplash, where the soft cream, green, and brown palette complements copper, stone, and natural wood. Use the twin bowls for flatware, herb bundles, or brushes, or leave it empty as a sculptural accent within a wall display of faïence, baskets, and cutting boards.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
