Antique French green glazed pitcher w/ lid 11½"

SKU: 18661

US$382
This superb lidded pitcher dates from the early twentieth century. Curiously, the beak was purposefully cut cleanly square and a cork put in the opening. The pitcher is entirely varnished with dark green glaze, an indication that this is a piece from southwest France - a region known for green and ocher-glazed pottery.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 11½" high x 8" diameter x 9½" incl. beak & handle
Approx. overall 29cm high x 20cm diameter x 24cm incl. beak & handle
