Antique French green "orjol" pitcher - small 9¾"

SKU: 16042

A green-glazed cruche orjol dating from the late nineteenth century, this French water jug is beautifully timeworn and shows wear underneath from constant pouring. These earthenware pieces originate from the Languedoc region of south-west France. Ewers like these were used for fetching water from the village fountain for domestic use and would make a charming addition to any pottery collection.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
