This lovely antique pitcher features a green demi-glaze and a charming rustic patina with light moss. Popularized at the end of the nineteenth century, Kanti pitchers are from the Languedoc region of south-west France. They are similar to water cruches except that they are entirely closed on top - there is no lid to open and close (or lose!) They were originally used for fetching water from the village fountain.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
