A lovely miniature landscape on glass signed by the artist and dated 1820. The scene depicts part of a village surrounded by mountains and water in the moonlight. The highly skilled type of technique used to achieve this type of painting involves painting on the back side of the glass which is known as "reverse painting". Looking closely. you can see there is a small signature and date on the bottom left on the terrace. The gilded frame is original. Artist unknown.
