The barometer face retains its delicate hand-painted numerals, while the thermometer bears the inscription "Thermomètre de Réaumur." This refers to the Réaumur temperature scale, developed by French scientist René-Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur in 1730, which was widely used in France during the 18th century before being replaced by the Celsius scale.
