A weighty marble mortar from the nineteenth-century. It would have originally either been used in a pharmacy or a bourgeoise family. Curiously, there is a long lip like a step along one of the sides - perhaps to help with pouring. A classic decorative accent for both modern and classic kitchens.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
