This large two-handled pottery jar was made in Martres-Tolosane, a town in southwestern France known for its faience production since the 18th century. Dating from the late 19th century, the pot is finished in a white glaze and hand-painted with delicate blue floral sprays and fine banding, typical of the region’s restrained rural style.
The body is generously rounded with a short neck and slightly everted rim. Two looped side handles are integrated just below the collar. Signs of wear and small surface imperfections are present, consistent with age and use.
A fine example of southern French utilitarian ceramics with lasting decorative presence.
