Oil jar, red w/ stopper, French antique, 11"

A marvelous walnut oil vessel from the late-eighteenth to early-nineteenth century. Ceramic jars such as this have been handmade since the middle ages. This pot is made from red terracotta and retains the original wooden stopper (which still has traces of oil). It would be a special addition to a collection of antique French pottery.
