Once used to store olives or olive oil, this superb olive jar from Castelnaudary, France, was made in the nineteenth century as it has a round silhouette in contrast to earlier versions which held a straighter, less bulbous form. Note the lovely traces of yellow glaze inside and around the outside rim. A perfect addition to an existing collection of pottery or way to add a touch of French country to outside and inside spaces.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
