This terracotta bowl, or "plat à feu" features a pretty, pale yellow glaze interior and dates from the late nineteenth century, France. It was originally used for cooking purposes in the oven or fireplace. It is a Provençal piece, possibly from Vallauris. Celebrated for its pottery, Vallauris is a seaside commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It is located in the metropolitan area of Antibes, bordering it on its west side. Today, this would make a charming bowl to hold fruit and add a touch of France to your kitchen.
