This bright orange / ocher water pitcher is from the Savoy region (the French Alps). It was originally used for water (both cold and over the flame for heating - hence the underside is unglazed). The swirling glaze in bright green and dark brown is a technique called Jaspé - often used by artisans in the Savoy.
