Antique French weathervane rooster mounted on timber block

This exceptional French copper rooster dates from the nineteenth century. Most likely from a bell tower of a church. The rod is for conducting lightning to protect the building. The patina is wonderfully timeworn. It has recently been mounted on a solid timber block.
