An extraordinary, petit Baroque gilded mirror dating from the eighteenth century, Italy. The mirror glass is beveled and dates more recently to the nineteenth century. Taking a cue from the works of Italian sculptor Andrea Fantoni, the gilded wood frame is richly decorated with ornate scrolling acanthus leaves, elevated by their considerable thickness. A cherub angel watches over the top of the mirror, and an abstract fleur-de-lis graces its base. This superb mirror makes the list of good things that come in small (thoughtfully wrapped) packages and will instantly add a touch of ornate elegance to your space.
Heavy wear and rustic condition consistent with age and use.
