A French preserve jar dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, originating from southern France. It features a rounded body, twin loop handles, and a broad opening. The exterior is finished in a rich copper-green glaze with subtle tonal variation and beautiful age-related crazing that adds depth and character, while the interior is glazed in warm honey-yellow. Minor glaze losses around the rim and gentle wear throughout contribute to its appealing patina.
Designed for storing olives, preserves, and other pantry staples, jars of this type were a familiar presence in rural households across southern France. Their generous opening and sturdy handles made them practical for everyday use, while the vibrant glaze brightened the kitchen shelf. Today, it serves equally well as a utensil holder, cachepot, or vase with a glass liner, and pairs effortlessly with other rustic ceramics. Its luminous glaze, rounded silhouette, and authentic wear bring warmth and character to both country and contemporary interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
