A hand-thrown antique Moroccan terracotta lidded pot with an ovoid body and gently domed lid, topped by a simple button finial. The pot is flanked by two distinctive sculpted handles that rise organically from the shoulder, lending the form both strength and expressiveness. The unglazed terracotta displays warm red and buff tones, with areas of soot and mineral deposits creating a rich, tactile patina. Hammered metal strapping runs vertically and around the rim, serving a mostly decorative role while subtly reinforcing the structure. The rim is irregular with old chips, the lid rests slightly askew, and the surface bears marks of use and age throughout. Such utilitarian vessels were made in village workshops across Morocco, low fired so the clay could breathe and diffuse heat, and used for simmering stews or warming liquids over embers. The surface patina, smoke staining, and metalwork together speak to a long working life and vernacular craftsmanship. This piece has a sculptural, tactile quality that brings an authentic material presence, both grounded and timeless. It pairs beautifully with weathered wood, stone, and woven fibers, and can serve as a characterful vessel for wrapped spices in the kitchen or matchboxes by the hearth.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
