This beautiful antique Louis XVI-style French trumeau mirror dates from the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century, France. The frame is made from sculpted wood painted with a lovely powder blue color and gilded accents. The gilded motifs feature floral urns in the lower corners and rosette garland motifs in the upper corners. The oil painting at the top depicts a French Romantic-style nature scene with soft, tall trees and animals resting at the feet of two central figures who appear to be eating grapes from the woman's basket. The scene and mirror are crested with a gilded triple-loop bow ribbon above. Mirror may be newer than the frame.
