This charming Savoyard ceramic pitcher dates from the early 20th century and has a simple rounded form with a loop handle and hand-pinched spout. Its warm orange ground is punctuated by evenly spaced green dots, creating a crisp, graphic contrast that feels surprisingly modern. Wear along the rim and areas of glaze loss inside and out add a rustic country character, while the overall silhouette and decoration remain notably clean and well balanced.
Savoyard pottery was made for everyday domestic use, but its practical forms were often enlivened with simple painted motifs that gave each piece a distinctive regional identity. Here, the regular polka-dot decoration gives the pitcher an especially fresh and decorative quality. Intended for decorative use today, it would sit beautifully on open shelving or among a collection of country ceramics, and can also be used for fresh flowers with a watertight liner inserted inside.
