Antique Savoyard Earthenware Salad Bowl w/ Lively Green Decoration and Rustic Patina - 11½"

This Savoyard earthenware salad bowl dates from the early 20th century and has a broad, gently flared form that feels surprisingly light for its size. The interior is covered in a soft creamy-yellow glaze, decorated with simple green foliate strokes and small dark accents arranged in a loose rhythm around the bowl. The exterior is left largely unglazed, creating a pleasing contrast with the glossy interior. Rubbing, small chips and scattered marks are visible throughout, all consistent with age and use and adding to its relaxed country character.

Made for everyday use, bowls like this were valued for their practicality, with simple painted decoration bringing color to otherwise modest household pottery. The soft yellow and green palette has an easy, sun-warmed quality that feels especially at home in a country kitchen. Because of the glaze losses, the bowl is best reserved for decorative rather than table use.
