Antique Southern French Terracotta Kanti Water Flask with Partial Green Glaze -11"

This rustic terracotta kanti, or traditional southern French water flask, likely dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Its full, rounded body flares gently outward from a narrower base before rising to a loop handle at the top, flanked by two small raised openings on opposite sides, creating the distinctive silhouette typical of this type of vessel. Much of the body has been left unglazed, exposing the warm natural terracotta, while the shoulder, handle and necks are covered in a rich green glaze. One particularly expressive kiln drip runs freely down the side, an accidental flourish from the firing process that gives this handmade piece its own individual character. A fine hairline is visible near the handle, while areas of wear and accumulated patina remain in the recesses of the glaze, all contributing to its authentically rustic appearance.
