This antique terracotta saucepan from Vallauris dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and is shaped in the traditional Provençal form with a deep bulbous body and large handle. The exterior is finished in a soft pale yellow glaze, decorated with flowing blue jaspe swirls. The interior is unglazed at the base with a clear glaze around the rim, revealing the warm red terracotta beneath. The underside shows traces from fire exposure, indicating it was used over direct heat as a functional kitchen vessel. Today, this piece is best suited for decorative use. It remains a fine example of Vallauris rural pottery, marked by honest craftsmanship and practical design. Several similar pieces are available for separate purchase.
