A chic and timeless service of square glazed plates from the Drôme region, presented in four graduated sizes and finished in a rich, glossy green glaze. The plates feature crisp square outlines softened by gently sloping sides that descend toward a recessed central well, creating a balanced and elegant profile that feels both architectural and practical. Fine banded decoration at the rims adds a discreet graphic accent, subtly framing each piece without distracting from the purity of the form. The glaze shows pleasing, nuanced variations in tone from plate to plate, ranging from deep forest green to softer olive hues, reflecting the artisanal nature of their production and the character of kiln firing. The set comprises 8 small plates, 11 medium plates, 6 large plates, and 7 very large plates. Condition is very good, with light wear at a few edges and the occasional faint utensil mark consistent with careful use.
Each piece is stamped on the underside with Dieulefit and Poët-Laval workshop marks. These pottery villages in southeastern France have long ceramic traditions, sustained by studio potters who favored functional forms finished with richly colored glazes. Produced in the 1970s–1980s, the square profile reflects the clean, confident geometry embraced by postwar and late-modern tableware, while the saturated green glaze recalls the earthy palettes long associated with southern French stoneware workshops. Despite coming from two makers, the pieces form a harmonious service, unified by tone, proportion, and shared regional craftsmanship.
On the table, the very large plates serve gracefully as chargers or platters, the large plates suit mains, and the smaller sizes are ideal for starters, dessert, or canapes. Beyond dining, the largest pieces make handsome trays on a console, while the small plates work beautifully on open shelving or as catchalls on a desk. The serene green brings a grounded, quietly luxurious note to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
