Beautiful Petite Louis-Philippe Water-Gilded Mirror - 29½" x 22"

A petite French Louis-Philippe wall mirror, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The understated moulded frame, with its softly arched upper corners characteristic of the Louis-Philippe style, retains its original water-gilded finish in a beautifully mellow, warm gold tone.  A delicate beaded inner moulding frames the mirror plate (possibly not original but antique), while finely reeded reserves lend subtle rhythm and refinement to the understated design. The richly aged gilding has acquired a soft luminosity through time, with gentle rubbing that enhances its depth and character.  The mirror plate displays only very minor speckling, while a couple discreet old restorations blend into the overall patina.

Its compact scale and clear mirror plate make it ideal for a smaller entrance hall, a powder room, or above a bathroom vanity.
