A lovely Belgian "Keulse" or "Cologne" blue and white glazed stoneware mustard pot which dates from the end of the nineteenth century to early twentieth century. This piece has two little handles decorated with blue stripe glaze and a decorative abstract floral swirl motif around the center. Impressed on the side is an inscription reading "Mustard Factory, Eeuwige Vriend, Vegetable Market 63, Ghent".
These kinds of pots are typically made of ceramic earthenware material with a layer of salt glaze. This layer of glaze ensures that the pot is watertight. This piece would be the perfect addition to an existing collection of pottery or as a charming kitchen utensil holder or flower vase.
