Elegantly proportioned and richly paneled, this early 20th-century French bistro bar is crafted in solid hardwood with a later zinc-clad top. The façade features paneled fronts framed by molded rails and stiles, accented with subtle carved details and fluted pilasters, all resting on a broad plinth base. The zinc counter has a softly rounded edge and a silvery, pewter-like sheen. The reverse side reveals its original functional configuration: a deep zinc-lined work basin with an integrated tap, a copper sink, and storage compartments below, including paneled cabinet doors and an open shelf for bottles or glassware.
This professional layout once served café staff for washing and serving, combining practicality with craftsmanship. The piece remains sturdy and serviceable, with an appealing patina from decades of use that lends authenticity and character to its handsome form.
This rare bistro bar makes a bold statement in any setting, its mix of warm timber and cool zinc exuding authentic French café charm. Ideal for a home bar or reception space, it instantly creates a focal point with its tactile materials and timeworn patina. Pair it with vintage stools and glassware for relaxed entertaining, or contrast its rustic warmth with modern art to achieve an effortlessly layered interior.
