Bespoke 1960s–70s French Oak Bench w/ Curved Return and Rope Back - 87¾"

This long oak bench likely dates from the 1960s or 1970s and stands out for its highly unusual, bespoke design. The main section is essentially straight, allowing it to sit neatly against a wall, while one end sweeps outward into a broad rounded return that gives the piece its distinctive asymmetrical profile. The upper backrest follows the same line, with an open section below threaded with thick rope in a crisscross pattern between the upright supports. Beneath, sturdy slightly splayed legs are joined by long stretchers and distinctive turned cross-supports, reinforcing the sense that this was a specially conceived piece rather than standard production furniture. The oak has a warm, naturally aged surface with visible grain and light signs of use. The bench is stable, solid and fully functional.
