This is a stunning dinner service from the "Seagull" porcelain collection by Bing & Grøndahl (B&G), a Danish manufacturer renowned for its fine craftsmanship and elegant designs. The "Seagull" pattern, first introduced in 1895, became one of the most iconic and sought-after patterns in Danish porcelain history, symbolizing serenity and the natural beauty of the Nordic coastline. This set features 10 dinner plates, 10 soup plates, 10 dessert plates, 2 gravy boats with matching underplates, several serving dishes, one large lidded tureen, one mustard jar and pair of matching salt and pepper shakers.
Designed by Fanny Garde (1855–1928) in 1892, the Seagull collection features hand-painted seagulls gracefully soaring against soft, gradient blue backgrounds. The textured rims evoke the delicate pattern of seashells, while sculpted sea animals such as seahorses adorn the handles of select pieces, adding a touch of playful elegance. Its timeless design and understated beauty made it hugely popular in Denmark. From the 1950s to the 1980s, the Seagull design was so beloved that it became known as the "National Service of Denmark."
Perfect for a serene, coastal-inspired table setting, this timeless collection also works beautifully in modern interiors, blending elegance with a touch of nostalgia.
