The message of this charming poster is very moving, translating to 'I am a brave war hen, I eat very little and produce a lot'. This storied artwork hangs in the kitchen of Patricia and Walter Wells' farmhouse in Provence. She adores it and says that each time she reads it 'it makes me cry'. Considering that the poster was designed by a sixteen year-old girl in 1916, it is easy to understand why this brings tears to her eyes.
