Capodimonte Porcelain Rococo Table Lamp w/ Custom Floral Shade - 21¾"

This petite Capodimonte porcelain table lamp, marked to the underside, has all the playful richness associated with Rococo decoration. Its slender baluster-form body rises from an elaborate scrolling tripod base, enlivened by generous gilding, soft washes of turquoise and blush, and delicate applied flowers in pink, blue, green and violet. The combination of curling rocailles, raised floral ornament and warm gold detail gives the lamp an exuberant, highly decorative presence while retaining a light, graceful silhouette. The porcelain is in very good overall condition, with no obvious breaks visible; only very minor age-related nicks may be present among the applied decoration.

The single light is topped with a custom-made pleated shade that embraces the lamp’s fanciful Rococo character. Muted gold, taupe and polka-dot fabrics are layered with pink accents, passementerie and large silk flowers for a richly decorative effect. It was made specifically for the piece, though a simpler shade could easily give the lamp a more restrained look and place greater emphasis on the porcelain base.

This petite lamp has a playful, almost confectionery quality while retaining the delicacy of the porcelain work. It would be particularly appealing in an eclectic bedroom, dressing room or layered sitting room, where its color and irreverent Rococo spirit can bring personality to the scheme.
