A petite hand-thrown trumpet vase from Castelnaudary, southern France, in warm autumn-leaf glazed earthenware. The form flares elegantly from a slightly waisted base to a ruffled, scalloped lip, with a gentle off-axis profile that speaks to its artisanal production on the wheel. The exterior shows a glossy honey-ochre glaze, while the interior is intentionally left unglazed. The glaze is beautifully speckled from firing and a few small, old chips to the rim add to its rustic charm.

Castelnaudary, in the Languedoc region of southwestern France, was a key center for vernacular pottery from the 18th to the 20th century, known for robust terracotta forms and iron-rich glazes in ochre, tobacco, and green.
