A lovely polka dot pitcher from Savoie dating from the early twentieth century. The straight-sided cylindrical body rises to a slightly everted rim with twin incised rings, a pinched pouring lip, and a pulled strap handle.
Cylindrical pitchers of this type were used for milk, cider, or water. This cheerful form adds graphic rhythm to open shelving in a country kitchen or mountain chalet interior. It reads beautifully as a small flower vessel for meadow blooms or branches, or as a charming utensil holder beside the range. Group with other Savoie terre vernissée and simple tin-lined copper to build a cohesive, rustic-luxe vignette on a console or farmhouse table.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
