A charming petite wrought iron rocking chair, likely French and dating from the late 19th century. The elegantly curved frame is formed from graceful sweeping lines with upswept arms, double rockers, and delicate ball finials, supporting its original natural canvas sling seat. Hand-painted with a cheerful bouquet of poppies, daisies, cornflowers, and wildflowers in softly faded shades of pink, red, yellow, and blue, the canvas has acquired a beautifully mellow patina over time. Presented in timeworn condition, with age-related fading and light soiling to the canvas, scattered paint losses, gentle sagging to the seat, and a weathered iron surface with light oxidation. The original wooden armrests are no longer present, leaving only their iron mounting plates. 

Reflecting the taste for indoor gardens and verandas that flourished during the Belle Époque, this charming chair combines flowing wrought iron with hand-painted floral decoration inspired by the natural world.
