This early 20th century pendant lamp features a gently domed circular milk glass shade, hand-painted with a charming pastoral vignette depicting a chapel, cottages, and windswept trees. The scene is rendered in warm burgundy and earthy tones above a soft green band suggesting rolling meadows, a decorative language characteristic of parlor lighting from the period. The shade is fitted with a patinated brass gallery designed for chain suspension and is finished with a skirt of cream-colored seed-bead fringe, which adds subtle movement and a soft shimmer.
Likely produced around the 1920s, such beaded pendant lights were widely popular, prized for their gentle, atmospheric glow and decorative appeal. The glass shade remains in very good condition, showing only minor wear consistent with age. The bead fringe shows scattered losses and areas of thinning and may benefit from light restoration.
Its mellow, diffused glow brings gentle atmosphere to a hallway, dressing room, or reading nook, and it makes a charming statement above a bedside table or small entry console. The beaded fringe adds texture and a hint of romance, while the painted landscape introduces a quiet note of color. In a contemporary interior, it adds a bold, characterful accent, while in a warm bohemian or eclectic setting it layers in softness and visual richness.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
