This charming little vintage ceramic piglet has a tender, slightly turned pose and naturalistic modeling, finished in a glossy crackle glaze in warm beige with soft rose touches to the ears, snout, and hooves. Realistically painted eyes give it surprising presence. It was probably made as a shop display for a "charcuterie", a tradition of using lifelike ceramics to attract attention in deli windows. It remains in very good vintage condition with pretty allover crackling and gentle surface wear, no obvious chips or repairs.
Pair it with stoneware crocks, wooden boards, and woven baskets on a kitchen shelf or mudroom console to bring a welcoming farmhouse note to daily life. Whether anchoring a country house interior or softening a more contemporary space, it adds warmth, humor, and quiet charm.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
