This French Art Deco freestanding towel stand, circa 1930, originates from a hotel on the Côte d’Azur. The frame is crafted in nickel-plated brass with a soft satin sheen and finished with ball finials, standing on gently splayed feet joined by a low stretcher. Three clear glass rails are supported by arched brass brackets with turned collars, creating an elegant and refined silhouette of very fine quality. The condition is very good, with light age-related wear to the plating; the glass rods remain clear and free of obvious chips or cracks.
Practical yet stylish, this piece exemplifies the discreet luxury of French Art Deco furnishings, where fine materials and clean geometry were paired with functional design. Its combination of gleaming metal and transparent glass reflects the modernist elegance of palace hotels along the Riviera in the interwar years.
Ideal for a primary bath, guest suite, or dressing room, the stand brings a touch of Côte d’Azur chic to both classic and contemporary interiors. It can be placed beside a marble-topped vanity or a clawfoot tub to hold towels, or in a pool house to display rolled linens. With its light footprint and transparent rails, it keeps spaces visually open while adding a practical note of vintage refinement.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
