A charming early 20th-century silver-plated sugar sifter by Christofle. It features a scalloped, lobed bowl pierced with delicate floral motifs and a slender handle edged with double lines, finishing in a graceful heart-shaped terminal. The airy bowl was designed for dusting pastries, berries, and crêpes with powdered sugar. The surface shows a soft, luminous patina, with gentle highlights on the raised areas and darker toning in the recesses, while remaining overall bright and in very good condition.
Founded in 1830, Christofle set the standard for fine silver plate in the 19th century and maintained that excellence into the early 20th century.
On a breakfast tray, this elegant sifter brings a glint of Parisian elegance beside crystal and fine porcelain. Placed in a kitchen utensil pot, the scalloped bowl catches the light, lending quiet sparkle to a marble counter. For entertaining, pair it with a compote of strawberries or a cake stand to finish desserts at the table with a refined flourish.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
