Early 19th-century blown glass preserving jar - clear with round base 17"

SKU: 10882

US$444
This superb Spanish preserving jar is from the island of Majorca and dates from the late eighteenth / early nineteenth-century. Originally used for preserving olives or anchovies. Originally they were protected with hay and hand made wicker and stored in the cellar. Hand made, blown glass. Please be careful when cleaning as the underside can be sharp where the glass was cut during the blowing process. Faults and bubbles are part of the making process and reflect the light beautifully.
