A petite brass Art Nouveau shop display stand from the early 20th century, finished in a warm golden tone and raised on a graceful tri-foot base cast with stylised botanical motifs. The slender central column is topped with a turned finial and fitted with two sets of adjustable brass arms, designed to slide to varying heights. Such arms likely once supported small glass shelves, a common feature in jewelers’ and haberdashers’ displays of the period, used for presenting jewelry, gloves, or other delicate accessories.
Likely of French origin, the stand recalls the refined fittings found in early 20th-century boutiques, where function and ornament were thoughtfully combined. The structure is in good condition, with a softly timeworn patina that speaks to decades of gentle use and enhances its decorative appeal. The glass shelves, now missing, could easily be replaced to display perfume bottles or petite curios; even without them, the stand remains fully functional for hanging jewellery, scarves, or ties in a dressing room or on a vanity, or for holding keys in an entryway or study.
Both functional and sculptural, this stand introduces a quietly luminous accent that complements classic and contemporary interiors alike.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
