A finely modeled chalkware figure of a seated spaniel, French or English, early 20th century. The dog is naturalistically rendered with long pendant ears, a feathered coat, and a narrow collar, all hand-painted in soft cream with black and warm umber accents. Its wide, dark eyes and slightly tilted head lend a gentle, soulful expression that captures the affectionate nature of the breed. The matte surface has developed a softly timeworn patina, showing scattered paint losses, small nicks to the ears and paws, and light rubbing to the raised areas, yet the figure remains stable and full of quiet charm. No maker’s mark is visible.
This gentle spaniel brings warmth and companionship to any setting. It can be placed on a console or on the floor, beside a sofa, at the foot of a bed, or near the fireplace, giving the impression of a quiet, loyal presence. The figure pairs beautifully with oil landscapes, books, and brass accents, or can soften the look of a painted cupboard or rustic bench. It lends a touch of tenderness and nostalgia to the room.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
