From early 20th century France, this characterful_ jeu de la grenouille_ tossing game evokes the lively spirit of village fairs, outdoor cafés, and social gatherings. Crafted in wood, the tall stand supports a flat playing surface fitted with scoring holes, metal arches, a small turning target, and a central green painted cast iron frog whose open mouth forms the highest scoring goal. Beneath, the interior return is sloped to guide the discs downward after each throw. Players toss metal discs from a short distance, aiming for the various targets, each marked with hand stenciled point values ranging from 10 to 2000. The worn wood, surviving paint, and boldly numbered scoring boards reflect many years of lively play and friendly competition. One original coin remains, but the game can be played with modern coins or metal discs as long as they have a bit of weight.

A delightful accent for a games room, garden room, or wine cellar, it brings texture and a sense of shared memory to both contemporary and country interiors. Keep it ready for play with a small bowl of discs on top, lending the space an unmistakable spirit of French conviviality.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
