This finely carved giltwood figure of Christ, once part of an early 20th century crucifix, has been thoughtfully mounted on a slender metal rod above a tiered wooden base. The figure appears to float gracefully above the base, creating a striking sense of lightness and elevation. Christ is shown in a traditional crucifixion pose with arms raised in a wide V, head gently bowed to His right, and feet delicately crossed. The body is slender and expressively rendered, with visible ribs and softly defined muscles. Traces of gilt highlight the torso and the draped loincloth, which is knotted at one hip. The wooden base, painted in warm tones of gold, red, and black, has a stepped, pyramid-like form that adds elegance without overpowering the simplicity of the composition. The contrast between the grounded base and the delicately suspended figure gives this devotional piece a serene, almost weightless quality.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
