An early 20th-century French jug in wheel-thrown terracotta, with a rounded baluster form, rolled rim, pinched pouring lip, and a single small loop handle. The exterior is unglazed, showing the natural warm tone of the clay, while the rim and interior are finished with a honey-colored glaze. Turning lines, kiln freckles, and smoke darkening at the base reveal its handmade character and long domestic use. This simple utilitarian jug reflects the rural French tradition of terracotta ware made for everyday kitchens, where interiors were sealed for liquids and exteriors left bare to breathe.
Its modest form and mellow patina make it an understated sculptural accent for a dresser, kitchen shelf or table, ideal for holding wooden utensils, dried herbs, or flowers, and for bringing an authentic note of French country charm to any setting.
