This large early 20th-century two-part pine display cabinet has particularly appealing proportions, with a very tall glazed upper section set above a relatively low paneled base. This gives the piece a more airy, elongated profile than is usual for this type of cabinet. The upper section is fitted with three glazed doors and adjustable shelves, while below, three drawers sit above paneled cupboard doors opening to an interior painted a deep red. The stripped pine has a warm, softly aged surface with visible grain and old marks. Faint traces of an earlier red-burgundy painted finish remain in places, adding another layer to the cabinet’s history. The locks on the glazed upper doors have been replaced, while the lower cupboard doors retain their original simple latches. All doors and drawers open and close smoothly.
The unusual proportions are a large part of its appeal: the tall glazed upper cabinet gives the piece an airy, vertical character, while the lower section adds solidity and useful concealed storage. It would work beautifully in a kitchen, dining room or living space, with ceramics, glassware, books or collected objects displayed above and everyday storage kept neatly below.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
