An early 20th century rustic french workshop chair, likely assembled from a simple stool and later fitted with a backrest, reflecting the ingenuity of hand-crafted rural furniture. Made of solid wood with a deeply worn, stained surface and visible tool marks, it embodies the spirit of folk craftsmanship with its honest construction and time-softened patina. The seat is higher than standard and was intended for use at a worktable or in a workshop. Its condition is distinctly rustic, with old breaks, rusty nails, and numerous stains and marks from years of use, all of which contribute to its authentic character.
Today it reads as a sculptural decorative piece and would make a wonderful plant stand, an occasional chair for placing bags or a market basket in an entryway, or a charming bedside accent where its raw, rustic character adds warmth and personality.
