An early- to mid-20th-century elegant French alabaster urn-form vase, assembled from three blocks of milky white stone veined with soft, honeyed swirls. The neoclassical baluster body rises on a circular base to a gently flared, rounded rim, its surface polished to a soft satin sheen. Formerly mounted as a lamp, it now reads as a sculptural vase, with faint traces of the earlier fitting, including a small hole in the base. The body and base are secured together with an internal screw, while the collar sits on top and can be removed, allowing for practical future electrification. Condition is good, with a visible hairline at the collar and light, age-related wear that adds to its sense of age and authenticity.

Alabaster has long been prized for its fine grain, soft translucency, and luminous surface, qualities that have made it a favored material for decorative and sculptural objects across Europe for centuries. Easily carved and capable of taking a high polish, it lends itself to refined classical forms echoing models from antiquity.
