This small French bistro or side table likely dates from the early to mid-20th century and may be an old assemblage, combining a circular pink-beige marble top with a visually light metal base. The stone is enclosed within a shallow riveted metal rim and has developed a beautifully aged surface, with fine fissures, subtle veining and warm tonal variation. Below, three slender legs curve outward and are joined by delicate arched stretchers, creating an airy silhouette. The marble top shows pronounced natural veining, together with light staining, surface wear and a few fine age-related hairlines, while the surrounding metal rim has areas of oxidation and dents, bringing an appealing sense of age and character to the piece.
Originally suited to a café or terrace setting, it would work just as naturally today beside an armchair, as a small drinks table, or as an occasional table in a kitchen or conservatory. Whether conceived this way from the outset or assembled from earlier elements, the table has an unusual and particularly charming character, with the substantial marble top creating an appealing contrast with the light, curving metal base. The stone itself is especially attractive, with soft pink tones animated by warm yellowish accents and natural veining.
